classes in learning infant massage techniques to help
calm and relax babies, soothe them into better sleep,
boost their immunity, settle upset tummies, and reduce
crying time. Join Kelly, a certified Infant Massage Instructor

Infant Massage Classes

The First Touch course consists of five sessions, spread over 5 consecutive weeks. Each class lasts for 1 – 1.5 hours. Group sizes are limited to only eight families, to ensure you receive the one-on-one attention you deserve! This will help you gain as much out of the classes as possible, and continue developing the love affair with your baby that started during pregnancy!

Each class focuses on different topics and areas of the body, including:

  • Preparation for massaging baby
  • Benefits of infant massage
  • Understanding behavioural states
  • Being aware of baby cues
  • Reflexes under infant massage
  • Relaxation techniques for parents
  • Still touch / Containment Holds / Touch Relaxation
  • Gentle movements
  • Adaptations for the older baby & the growing child
  • Stages of Growth
  • Colic information
  • The complete infant massage stroke sequence, developed by the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). The IAIM stroke sequence is a combination of:
    • Indian massage: soothing & relaxing movements away from the heart.
    • Swedish massage: stimulating & firm movements toward the heart.
    • Reflexology: traditional infant massage techniques are based on pressure points in reflexology.
    • Yoga: yoga like postures used in gentle movements sequence help derive some of the benefits of Infant Massage.

Discussion topics, include:

  • Crying
  • Infant stress release & settling techniques.
  • Any other topics the group is interested in.

Classes are designed for newborn babies to 1 year olds.
Classes costs $180 and include:

  • Supplied water proof change mats for your baby’s comfort.
  • Bottle of massage oil for you to keep
  • Information handouts
  • Participation certificate upon completion of the First Touch course!

Group Class Schedule

Classes are held at Castle Hill Community Centre (Castle Grand Room)
between 12pm and 3pm. However if this time and day are not convenient for
